Portraits
Inspiration for this body of work is a Foundation called the Semicolon Project, a global non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and love for those who are struggling with mental illness, thoughts of suicide, addiction and self-injury; by promoting the drawing or tattooing of a semicolon to signify one’s struggle as a reminder and inspiration to keep on living, to keep trying, to never forget that your life is worth living. In this body of work the tattoos/symbols mark a pivotal point in their life, the moment they made the conscious decision to move ahead, to persevere through their struggles, and to serve as a reminder of hope during their darkest moments.
